Over the past few months we have been completely rebuilding five Dieci F7000 mobile concrete mixers, allowing a major contractor to keep on trucking.
These mixers arrived to us having had a tough life, working 24/7 on a very large UK project.
Since then, under the care of our internal and external workshop teams they are now unrecognisable to what arrived. Engineer Mark Jones explained "the work we are doing here will give these machines another four or five years of useful working life. The machines are put through their paces on site, with each one having seen around 4,000 hours of service. For the most part they are mechanically sound which is a credit to the way they have been maintained."
The job at hand wasn't to just replace but actually improve the specifications on the machine. Clearly though the first job was to remove the layers of residual concrete and, in preparation for shot blasting, the mixer is stripped down to it's bare chassis for that very purpose.
Once the cement was cleared the mechanics roles and jobs included:
The Dieci F7000 mixers feature a 141 hp FPT powertrain and a capacity of 7.0m3. The performance of these mixers on one of the most demanding work sites is a credit to its design and build quality. The fact that this contractor has invested more time and money into them shows how much believe they have in Dieci products.

Ammann have created a list of QR codes which give you direct links to a number of service specific videos, including as shown below, The ACR68 rammer.
You can view and download the selection of QR codes right here on the PDF file.
You can simply scan the code with any QR code scanning app, or alternatively there is the Ammann Service App which holds all the videos and information on. The App is a tool developed for customers to have machine documentation and service support on site at all times.
The tool is also helpful to quickly look up manuals and part lists when a machine is in the workshop.
You can download the app by following these links:
Apple - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ammann-group/id983661102?mt=8
Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.seispontan.ammannapp&hl=en
A&Y service manager, Jason Redgrave said the app is "awesome" and is a really helpful tool for anybody running Ammann machinery to have. It's free to install and is continually being updated and improved.
When we became the UK construction importer for Dieci machinery earlier this summer, it wasn't just machine sales we took on. We offer new and existing customers full after sales support, including parts and servicing.
Based in our Warwickshire headquarters we are already building up an array of Dieci parts on our shelves, with a fast turnaround from the factory in Italy we can get you the required part quickly and hassle free.
We already have full service kits ready for dealers and end users, which will be delivered in a custom Dieci box, showing which model and part numbers listed on the outside of the box.
A&Y's Aftersales manager Colin Sherwood said "The Dieci machines have an 85% commonality between the parts, making it a lot easier for the end user, especially if they run a number of different Dieci models in their fleets."
So if you need a part or service kit for your Dieci machine then give the A&Y Parts team a call on 01789 208924 to see how we can help - email@example.com
This week our Service Manager, Jason Redgrave has been at the Ammann factory in the Czech Republic. This 3 day trip saw dealers and distributors from all over the world come together to learn and hear about the changes coming to the Ammann ranges.
"It was great to talk to other service guys about how they work on Ammann machines, in my group we had people from Estonia, Iceland and Spain, each person with different ways of working on machines" said Jason.
A key aspect of the course was learning about the new Tier4 final engines that will be fitted to the ASC single drum rollers as well as, coming soon, the ARX light tandems. The ASC rollers were also shown on the course with a new drive system that was being trialed, by all accounts it was mightily impressive and will make these machines even more versatile.
Another topic of importance was the continued use of Ammann genuine parts and how using non genuine really can affect performance and in turn warranty.
"Another big part of the course was the Ammann Service App. It's going to be a really helpful tool going forward with loads of features that will make engineers lives easier. For example you will be able to scan every machine with the app which will bring up all it's information in seconds. I think this shows how Ammann are making themselves more modern to fit with the way people like to work now"
If you have any UK Ammann service enquires or issues then please contact us at A&Y, where we will be happy to help.

Lubricants, particularly oil are becoming more and more important in plant machinery. Using the wrong type of oil can prove to be a very costly mistake, especially on the latest, more technically advanced engines, for example the new Stage V ready Yanmar engines require a low ash, CJ4 oil, with the hydraulic system taking a High Viscosity Multigrade Hydraulic oil.
Here at A&Y we offer our own oil, specially manufactured with the needs of the Ammann, Yanmar and Cormidi machines, as well as all machines running Yanmar engines, at the forefront of our thinking.
These oils have proved to be very popular since we introduced them earlier this year, with yesterday another large delivery arriving.
Not only are these lubricants very competitively priced, we also offer a FREE DELIVERY service within the UK mainland.
6 varieties are available for purchase in 3 different sizes, 5 litres, 25 litres and 205 litre drums. You can view the full list and find out key details of each type by viewing the dedicated A&Y oils page:
To purchase the Oil or to find out what your requirements are then please give our dedicated parts team a call on 01789 208924
Alternatively you can take a look at our A&Y Ebay parts store, here you will find our oils and service kits that are currently in stock, as well as a selection of other popular parts.
It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to oils, cutting corners and costs will lead to problems.
This week Ammann told us how their light compaction products are a great fit for rental and hire companies.
Light compaction equipment includes; Vibration plates, Rammers, Trench Rollers and Walk behind Rollers. We agree that these machines suit the hire industry well and this is backed up by our current and sales into many rental firms of all sizes.
The following are examples Ammann gave as to why their equipment is a great fit, followed by a brief example to reaffirm that.
• Exceptional compaction force that helps operators hit targets in fewer passes
For example: The Rammax 1585 compacts with a mighty 86kN of centrifugal force
• Extreme flexibility, with a wide range of sizes and an ability to excel in multiple applications that include soil, asphalt, paving stones, aggregate and others.
For example: we have plates ranging from 330mm to 950mm in width, including forward moving models, reversible and hydrostatically ran.
• Convenient fuel options, with many machines running on petrol – and others providing a choice of petrol or diesel
For example: the majority of smaller items, such as forward moving plates are petrol powered but there is a diesel option. Larger machines like the trench and walk behind rollers are diesel.
• Easy operation and comfort, with vibration-limiting handles and simple adjustment
For example: Our plates come with the option of low vibration handles, also the larger plates and trench rollers are hand arm vibration free as controlled remotely.
• Safety across the product line, from the handles of the smallest plate compactors to the infrared system on the trench rollers
For example: when remotely controlling a trench roller if you get too close or too far away from the machine it will automatically cutoff.
• Serviceability, with convenient access to maintenance points and a variety of kits available to make service easy
For example: Large maintenance openings and ease of access reduces downtime. Service videos available under the Service heading above and finally A&Y offer a full parts service from our central UK base.
Earlier this week it was reported that so far this year rollers are proving to be the most stolen item of machinery.
In a review carried out by the AMI group it was found that rollers have risen as the most attractive piece of construction machinery for thieves.
AMI Group operations director Peter Stockton said: “The review we carried out revealed a marked increase in the theft of rollers from both construction sites and customer depots. This equipment tends to be smaller in size than much of the larger plant machinery so it is easier for criminals to conceal and transport in a panel van. Thieves may automatically presume that rollers don’t have a tracking device fitted so it is an easier option than larger kit which is more likely to have telematics fitted."
These findings were inline with recent reports by the Metropolitan Police's own Plant & Agricultural Intelligence Unit (PANIU) who found that smaller items such as tandem rollers, dumpers and mini excavators remain popular items for criminals and also unfortunately these thefts are on the rise.
Here at A&Y we can help combat these criminals, for example our Ammann Tandem rollers come complete with a lockable theft protection guard on the dashboard. In addition to this all of our machines are available with either anti-theft devices or trackers, a big deterrent to potential thieves.
